Judah was the son of _____________________________

Rehoboam was the son of ________________________

Shimei had ____________________________sons and six daughters.

Lesson: This may seem like a lot of uninteresting history, but we need to remember that this is God at work in history. For example, Judah was the tribe in
which Jesus one day would be born. History is His Story.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you that you are at work in history and are working all things together. Amen.

                                             HIS MYSTERIOUS WAYS

The story is told of a young man who was just 19 when he boarded the train leaving Karlskrona, Sweden, his hometown. A woman next to him asked, “Where are you going?” The man said, “I’m going to America to make a new start.” What he didn’t know was that jobs were hard to come by in 1930 New York City. The woman told him, “My cousin Lars works in New York City. He works at the Steinway piano factory. Look him up when you get there.” She wrote her cousin’s name on a piece of paper and wished the man God’s blessings. The young man did not speak a word of English. The man reached America and was faced with the summer heat of New York. The man set out in search of the factory,
wandering the city for hours, showing people that scrap of paper that bore just four words--Lars Olsen-Steinway Piano. Nobody was able to help that man. He was disappointed, and so tired. He noticed a parked car and slid in trying to escape the exhausting heat. In Sweden, if one needed to rest, they jumped
in a wagon or cart and took a quick rest--it didn’t matter who owned the cart. The man hoped the same was true here. He fell asleep but was awakened by a blast from a whistle from a nearby building and someone yelling at him in Swedish. “What are you doing in my car?” the man asked. The man from Sweden showed him the piece of paper with the name on it. The man smiled and explained about the whistle announcing the end of the workday at Steinway and Sons. The man who owned the car turned out to be Lars Olsen, the man named on the paper.
He also helped the man secure a job--God’s hand is amazing.
