HOW TO SERVE

Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church encourages every believer to use his or her spiritual gifts in service to Christ. We have established the following Ministry Teams to provide opportunities for Christian service to all members of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church:

Audio Ministry Team – Maintains and operates the sound system for church worship services and events. (Training is provided.)

Baptismal Ministry Team – Assists baptism candidates with baptismal robes, navigating the stairs to and from the baptismal pool, and having a towel ready for them to get dried off and changed after baptism. Launders the towels and robes used for baptisms.

Bus Ministry Team – Provides transportation for congregants who need a ride to church. Drives the bus for other church-related activities such as off-campus lunches and trips. Makes sure the bus is clean, fueled, and properly maintained. (Anyone over the age of 25 with a valid drivers license can drive the bus: no special drivers license or endorsements are needed.)

Church Sign Ministry Team – Creates or finds inspiring messages for our church sign. The sign is usually changed weekly to keep the messages fresh and keep our passersby engaged with the gospel. (It normally takes about 20-30 minutes to change out the sign.)

Decorating Ministry Team – Keeps our church looking beautiful by changing out sanctuary flowers, caring for the plants on the front porch of the church, changing the sanctuary banners each month, and changing out bulletin boards. This team also decorates the sanctuary, fellowship hall, and church corridors seasonally and for special events.

Kitchen & Fellowship Meals Ministry Team – Assists the church with providing meals for church functions as needed. Keeps the kitchen clean, organized, and fully stocked as well as receives food for church functions, ensures food is stored appropriately until served, and prepares and serves food and beverages.

Library Ministry Team – Assists the Church Librarian with a variety of tasks such as cataloging books, shelving books, checking out books to church members, etc.

Missions & Evangelism Ministry Team – Responsible for promoting and coordinating missions and ministry programs including the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions, the Myers-Mallory Missions Offering for the Alabama State Board of Missions, Samaritan’s Purse/Operation Christmas Child (shoebox ministry), Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, Women’s Care Medical Center, William F. Green State Veterans Home, Prodisee Pantry, and other local, state, national, and international missions and ministries.

Nursery Ministry Team – Provides care for children 0-5 years old during our regularly scheduled Sunday and Wednesday services and activities. (Volunteers serve in pairs approximately once every 2 to 3 months, depending on the number of volunteers.)

Photography Ministry Team – Takes photos for our annual church directory. Photographs church events for the website, church fliers, advertisements, social media, and for our history archives.

Prayer Ministry Team – Provides prayer for those on our church prayer list and for urgent prayer needs as they arise, raises awareness of the need for prayer, coordinates activities to embed prayer in every area of ministry within the church, promotes and plans special prayer meetings and prayer events, and provides prayer training for the church.

Ushers & Greeters Ministry Team – Greets every person upon arrival, distributing bulletins, visitor gifts, and other pertinent church information. Makes sure that every person who enters feels welcome, loved, and is invited back. Ushers and Greeters must have a smile, a positive attitude, and must demonstrate a deep love for Jesus, our church, and every person who walks through the door.

Video Ministry Team – Operates the cameras and livestreaming equipment during worship services and special events. (Training is provided.)
