We believe the purpose of Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church is to fulfill the great commandments and the great commission Jesus gave us in Scripture:
37He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38This is the greatest and most important command. 39The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. 40All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands." (Matthew 22:37-40 CSB)
18Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 CSB)
As we seek to fulfill our purpose of loving God, loving one another, and making devoted followers of Jesus Christ, we are committed to following the example of the early church we are provided in the New Testament:
42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. (Acts 2:42 CSB)
These four areas of focus (providing biblical teaching, partnering together in kingdom service, strengthening our relationships through social interactions, and praying) provide the basis for everything we do at Fairhope Avenue Baptist Church. Every ministry, activity, program, and event directly ties back to one or more of these core components of a biblically healthy church.
